Reliance Infra commissions400KV transmission line in Maharashtra
Reliance Infrastructure said it has commissioned the first 100% privately owned 116 kilometers of 400 kV transmission line between Solapur and Karad in Maharashtra.
The project on build, own and operate basis, is the first line under the INR 1,400 crore Western Regional System Strengthening Scheme, which totals 1,500 km. RInfra's wholly owned subsidiary Reliance Power Transmission was awarded the project.
RInfra said after signing the power transmission agreement with the western region beneficiaries in March 2009 and subsequently achieving financial closure in 70 days, it completed the first line in 15 months. The total length will be commissioned by the second quarter of FY12.
The project would facilitate flow of 4,000 MW from power rich eastern region to the western region and benefit all regional utilities.
Mr Lalit Jalan CEO of Reliance Infrastructure said that “We are proud to have the first ever private transmission project getting completed and commissioned well before the deadline. We are confident that the project would facilitate overcoming grim power situation in Maharashtra as power can smoothly flow from the power rich eastern regions to the State.”
